Art therapist and Mental Health Counselor

She/hers

Ciao, I’m Kristel!

Through virtual sessions I offer flexible and accessible art therapy and mental health counseling to achieve your therapeutic goals. I will collaborate with you to discover your own way of using creative expression as an effective tool for personal insight and growth. Typical sessions with clients tend to be a combination of both art therapy and talk therapy; Sessions will be tailored to your needs. We will examine thought patterns and validate feelings to see where patterns can shift and change.

I am professionally trained in art therapy and traditional talk therapy. I often use a multimodal approach when working with clients which tends to incorporate mindfulness-based stress reduction practices and explore existential topics while maintaining a trauma-informed perspective.

Currently, I am only seeing adults for individual sessions. Referrals for family or couples counseling in addition to therapy for adolescents and children may be provided.

I offer mental health care rooted in Evidenced-based practices and compassion. I often support those seeking therapy for:

Grief and loss

This can include bereavement of a loved one in addition to a wide variety of other experiences like pregnancy loss, chronic health issues, or a change in how we identify ourselves.

Anxiety and depression

We explore the causes of your current state and utilize different coping skills to improve your well-being and self-esteem.

Life stress and Transitions

This can include examining boundaries and finding ways to implement stronger or more flexible boundaries with yourself and others.

Therapy can help one to:

  • Emotionally regulate and tolerate tough emotions

  • Build healthy coping skills

  • Create present moment awareness

  • Change ineffective behavior

  • Disrupt negative self-talk

  • Boost self-esteem

  • Help process grief and loss

  • Increase compassion for yourself

  • Increase empathy for others

  • Process traumatic experiences in a safe way

  • Increase inner resiliency

  • Build stronger relationships with others

I’d be honored to work with you! And if we end up not being a good fit after a few sessions, I am more than happy to offer referrals.

you do not need artistic skills or expensive art Materials to do art therapy. Just a willingness to try something different.
